JUSTICE ANTHONY A. LUCKY

Justice Anthony Amos Lucky (born 11 May 1940) is a Judge of the United Nations International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. Justice Lucky served in the legal system of Trinidad and Tobago as a magistrate for ten (10) years prior to becoming a judge for another sixteen (16) years. He is the recipient of the Chaconia Medal (Gold) for his long and meritorious service to Trinidad and Tobago. He has been a member of the Tribunal since 2nd September, 2003, being re-elected in October, 2011. He served as the President of the Chamber for Marine Environment Disputes for the periods 2005-2008 and 2011-2014, and he is currently the President of the Chamber for Fisheries Disputes, an office he has held since 2014.
 
Justice Lucky began his legal education at the Council of Legal Education, Gray's Inn, London (1958-1961) then went on to complete a Post Final Practical Training Certificate (1961); a Diploma in International Relations at the Institute of International Relations at The University of the West Indies (U.W.I)(1972-1973)and a Masters Degree in International Relations at The  University of the West Indies (U.W.I) in 1984 as well as the Certificate in Legislative Drafting with the Commonwealth Secretariat.
 
Both his educational and professional training were achieved in tandem with an illustrious career in the private practice and public service.
