JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Senior Manager is responsible for the strategic direction with the delivery of services from the Teaching, Learning & Instructional Support (TLIS) department to UTT stakeholders with the provision of direct assistance, training, creation of digital resources and other relevant services. This position also includes coordinating the design and delivery of appropriate professional development opportunities for faculty at the University.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides strategic oversight for the TLIS operations and projects as assigned by VP RASA.

Through a collaborative process, develops the strategic plan and vision for academic information/learning technology systems and services consistent with the mission and values of UTT.

Determines, formulates and administers management policies and practices for creating effective teaching and learning environments, including the use of instructional technology and related information technology infrastructure.

Provides leadership and operational management of the following areas: Course Development, Professional Development, Learning Technologies and Multi-media Audio-Visual and Learning Spaces.

Develops policies and procedures for the development of partnerships, networks, and other relationships with public and private business and industry and other community agencies.

Guides, directs and/or contributes to the development of appropriate teaching/learning-related policies.

Participates in relevant academic committees of UTT.

Develops and monitors budgets, schedules and resources for the Unit.

Supports the development and allocation of instructional technology resources.

Conducts assessments of teaching and learning and curriculum management processes.

Recruits, mentors, develops, and retains a proactive, service-oriented team to foster an environment that promotes professional growth and development of staff through effective leadership and education.

Supervises, coaches and evaluates subordinate staff in accordance with the University’s performance management guidelines.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Technologies, Distance Education or any related field. A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is an asset

A minimum of ten years of technology-related work experience in an institute of higher education
-
A minimum of five years of management experience in higher education
-
A minimum of five years teaching in a virtual learning environment of a higher education institution
-
Experience managing IT-personnel, Instructional Design personnel and other administrative personnel
-
Certification in Project Management will be considered an asset
