JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

To assist with the planning and preparation of equipment and related teaching and learning aids as designated by Lab Supervisor.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrates the use of equipment and ensures that all equipment is in proper working condition.
• Develops, supervises and supports lab practicals for all Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Diploma and Certificate programmes.
• Assists with sourcing materials and equipment from various suppliers.
• Validates all new equipment and troubleshoots for minor issues.
• Develops lab manuals and operating procedures for scientific equipment.
• Develops an inventory of all labs by subject matter.
• Maintains inventory of all equipment and supplies in area of responsibility.
• Facilitates industry projects.
• Oversees research and data collection for Food Science and Technology programmes.
• Supports full time and part time/evening classes.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Technician Diploma/ Advanced Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience

• Sound knowledge of the area of instruction being demonstrated
• Sound knowledge of relevant software, hardware and lab equipment to be used in exercises

• Computer literate
