UTT Patriots Table Tennis student-athlete, Imani Edwards-Taylor, has been selected to participate in two (2) major international youth tournaments, both scheduled to take place in Charleston, West Virginia, USA.
Imani will be competing in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Pan American Youth Championships from 23-30 July, 2023. She is set to go up against highly ranked players from across the globe in the U19 Girls Singles, U19 Girls Doubles and the U19 Mixed Doubles categories. In the Girls Doubles and Mixed Doubles events she will be teaming up with Trinidad and Tobago's (T&T's) Jordan Thong and Samuel Humphreys, respectively.
Following the conclusion of the Youth Championships, Imani will head straight into the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender from 1-4 August, 2023 at the Charleston Coliseum.
The qualification for these world ranking tournaments was a result of Trinidad and Tobago's performance at the 2023 Caribbean Youth Championships that was held in Georgetown, Guyana from 27 March - 1 April, 2023. In that tournament, Imani captured a silver medal in the U19 Girls' Teams event, and a bronze medal in both the U19 Girls' Singles and U19 Girls' Doubles events. She is currently ranked 560th in the world.
