The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) celebrates a significant milestone on November 5th 2012, as we reflect on eight (8) years of delivery of quality tertiary education to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. As the Nation's first and only national university, UTT was established in 2004 with a mandate to educate and train nationals, and today, the University has become a fast-growing community of scholars which now serves a culturally diverse population of students in technical and other programme areas, ably guided by internationally respected professors. The University delivers a broad spectrum of high-quality, career-oriented diploma, bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes, in areas ranging from Science and Technology to Education and the Arts.
Entrepreneurship is a key factor for our country's sustainable economic development and UTT is doing its part to promote and encourage entrepreneurship within its faculty, staff and students. This observance and fulfillment of an entrepreneurial mandate is in congruence with the University's mission:

"To be an entrepreneurial University designed to discover and develop entrepreneurs; commercialise research and development and spawn companies for wealth generation and sustainable job creation…"

The University continues to assimilate business and technology into its Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees; blending instructional methodologies such as multi-disciplinary projects, problem-based learning, team-learning and instruction across all academic disciplines. By so doing, graduates of UTT are empowered to meet the demands of an ever-evolving society and are aligned to industry expectations.
With its genesis in the Trinidad and Tobago Institute of Technology (TTIT), UTT's primary focus is on the development of Trinidad and Tobago. Having received Institutional Accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT), in December 2010, UTT is continuing to provide the nation with quality tertiary education and training at its ten (10) campuses (UTT also maintains a presence in Tobago with the delivery of the Bachelor of Education programme).
Since its first graduation ceremony in 2006, UTT has graduated more than 4500 nationals and is set to graduate more than 1500 graduates from more than 50 programme areas at this year's 2012 Presentation of Graduates ceremony to be held on November 28th & 29th, 2012 at the Lord 'Kitchener' Auditorium at NAPA.
