On the heels of increasing proof of commercial viability and improved efficiency, the maritime industry has begun rapid uptake of systems rooted in digitalization, as well as viewing the elements of the maritime cluster as components of an ecosystem. These developments are, in tandem, producing targeted and harmonized approaches to efficiency and decarbonization. CMOS' research in this area includes:

• Innovation in the context of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) as an avenue to promote decarbonization across their respective maritime sectors IMO-UNEP-Norway Zero-and Low-Emission Innovation Forum & NextGen
• Maritime Informatics: Enabling understanding, predicting, advising, and improving maritime activity by digital means
• Supply Chain Efficiency: The Conceptualization of an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Ship - Shore Delivery Service for the Maritime Industry of Trinidad.
