Capacity Building

Continue to support capacity building and sensitization with relevant stakeholders towards meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement, the IMO's Initial GHG Strategy and Agenda 2030 through:

• Supporting the development of National Action Plans in line with the IMO's initial GHG Strategy;
• Increasing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) ambition;
• Reducing GHG emissions in their transportation sector through maritime initiatives; and
• Enacting legislation to implement MARPOL Annex VI
• Lobbying for improved maritime governance and institutional reform

Pilot Projects

MTCC Caribbean plans to implement pilot projects focusing on capacity building and the role of ports in maritime decarbonization, including but not limited to:

• Undertaking Port GHG Emission inventories and the implementation of Port Emissions Reduction Strategies (ERSs).
• Designing and implementing a demonstration project on onshore power systems, supported by the supply of renewable energy.
