Ian Pritchard began a career in teaching at the age of nineteen (19) and continued in this field until the age of thirty-four (34). During this time, he taught at The Monte Video Government, Salybia Government and Tranquillity Government primary schools. So evident was his desire and passion for sports, he was easily chosen as Sports Director at all the schools in which he taught and later went on to serve on the Board of the Port-of-Spain and Environs District Sports Committee. He holds a Teacher’s Diploma, having graduated from the then Valsayn Teachers College in 1996, with a Distinction in Practical Teaching.

Following his exit from the teaching fraternity, Mr. Pritchard moved on to the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, where he served as the adviser to the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs during the period February 2005 to November 2007. Mr. Pritchard served on the Ministry of Sport planning committee for both the 2006 Football World Cup in Germany and the Cricket World Cup held in the West Indies in 2007.  He was instrumental in the development and execution of an initiative of the Ministry called "No time for Crime." This initiative kept youths throughout Trinidad and Tobago involved in wholesome, meaningful sporting activities and brought many warring communities together using sport as the vehicle; an initiative he remains proud of to this day.

Mr. Pritchard played semi-professional football locally for Matura United and both locally and regionally for Caledonia AIA. He possesses a CONCACAF "D" Coaching Licence and has coached UTT’s "Super League" team during their participation in the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association Super League competition in 2009 and Southern Football Association from 2010 to 2012. He has for the past fifteen (15) years coached and continues to coach football teams in Toco annually. He possesses a certificate in Advanced Studies in Sports Therapy, Level 1.

Mr. Pritchard is the founder and President of the North East Coast Youth Academy; an Academy formed in 2003 with the main purpose being to provide youths from Matura to Matelot with sporting opportunities locally and internationally. His contributions to sport in the North East Coast have been so invaluable that at the age of thirty-five (35), he was recognised and awarded by the Toco Regional Complex Board of Directors and The St. David Carifesta Committee for his sterling work. He continues to coordinate various sporting competitions annually throughout the North East Coast.

He is also the founder and President of the "Support a Child for a Brighter Tomorrow" foundation. This foundation provides educational and sporting assistance, both financially and academically, to the gifted but less fortunate within the communities of Cumana Village, Toco. It is his desire to extend this group to assist all rural communities in Trinidad and Tobago.

Mr. Pritchard is a success-driven individual with a fervent determination to assist youths to achieve their true potential, both educationally and in sport as well.
