A dedicated and accomplished professional with over two decades of experience in social and community development, Ravi combines a robust academic background with hands-on expertise. His philosophy, rooted in the belief that 'success is found in the persistence of the struggle,' has been the driving force behind numerous achievements and contributions to societal progress.

Ravi’s academic profile includes having an undergraduate degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology in 2002, a Postgraduate Diploma in Sport Management from (UWI), St Augustine/FIFA/CIES in 2020 and an International Masters in Sport for Development from the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) in 2018. He graduated as the Class Valedictorian from his Postgraduate Diploma in Sport Management as well as the Most Outstanding Performance Performance in Sport for Development from the Academy of Sport, UTT. Ravi also has other professional development certification from the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business in areas of Mediation Skills, Train the Trainer and Influencing Key Stakeholders among other areas.

A social change and development advocate since 2000, working in many different organizations and interventions which has utilized diverse approaches to social transformation, all focused towards the progressive development of people and communities, Ravi’s work has engaged key demographic groups including children, young people, men and families. His extensive experience of over twenty years working within the local NGO sector, the valuable experiences he has gained from volunteering within youth and community development frameworks, as well as with his work with the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, has allowed him to gain a rich understanding of social issues that contribute to underdevelopment and the need for people and communities to become empowered to organize and effect social transformation that is relevant and practical to their unique circumstances.

Ravi is also a Sport for Development practitioner, having employed sport as a key element within many of the social and community development initiatives that he has worked in and supported. He strongly believes that apart from being able to make positive contributions to ameliorating the social circumstances of people and communities, sport as a tool for development can also be used as a vehicle for challenging and advancing notions of social marginalization, under-development and social change, which was the key theme of his postgraduate research. This being an area of keen interest to him, Ravi intends to pursue further research as to the utilization of sport in this regard within the local circumstances of Trinidad and Tobago. Ravi is also a director at the Caribbean Sport and Development Agency (CSDA) and a certified football coach with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) and has been coaching youth football since 1999.

Excited about the prospect of contributing full-time, Ravi previously served as a part-time instructor at the Academy of Sport (AoS) at UTT between 2011 and 2016. Now, as a full-time faculty member, he aims to bridge academic knowledge with practical experiences, enriching Trinidad and Tobago's sporting ecosystem. His commitment extends to fostering symbiotic partnerships between the Centre for Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Sport (CKPES) and community initiatives. In essence, Ravi is poised to continue making significant strides in the fields of academia, community development, and sports, blending his diverse skill set, academic achievements, and a profound passion for positive change.
