Carla Marcelle-Boyce is a food safety professional with over fifteen years of experience in both private sector and state organizations, specializing in the development of risk-based plans, policies, and food safety management systems for the food and agriculture industry. She is an experienced food technologist with broad industry and operational expertise in Food Science and Technology, Food Systems, Quality Systems Management, Quality Assurance, Product and Policy Development.

She is a Certified HACCP (Food Safety and Quality) Auditor, a Lead ISO 9001 Auditor for Quality Management Systems with competencies in management systems auditing and leading audit teams, and a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual under the United States Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

Her research interests focus on strengthening food safety management systems to effectively mitigate hazards and risks, advancing new product development through the use of local underutilized fruits and vegetables, exploring the potential of functional foods and exploring novel technologies to detect food adulteration.

Carla is also a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). Her academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with minors in Biology and Environmental and Natural Resources Management, and a Master of Science in Food Science and Technology from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
