Mr. Adrian Beharry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad (1982) and the Master of Science degree in General Maritime Administration from the World Maritime University, Malmo, Sweden (1986). He completed his on-the-job training attachment at MARAD (Office of Ports and Intermodal Development), US Department of Transportation and The World Bank, Washington, USA.
He is currently a member of faculty at the Maritime Campus of The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) where he is a Senior Lecturer in the Bachelor of Science Degree Programme in Nautical Science/ Maritime Operations and the Master of Science in Maritime Operational Management.
He recently served as a member of a consultancy team appointed by Nathan and Associates Inc. Washington, USA to prepare an IDB funded National Port Rationalization Study for Trinidad and Tobago.
He is a career maritime professional with extensive executive management experience in port operations at the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. More recently, he worked at the Ministry of Works and Transport as Sector Specialist Sea, where he was responsible for project planning and management oversight of the Water Taxi Fast Ferry Project and the Port of Spain International Port Relocation Project at East Sea Lots.
He also served as Chairman of the Task Force appointed by the CARICOM Secretariat to consider the feasibility of establishing a Regional Fast Ferry Service in the Southern Caribbean. He has previously served as a member of the Commission of Enquiry appointed by the Government of Grenada to examine the cost and efficiency of port operations at the Grenada Ports Authority viz-a-viz other OECS ports in the Caribbean.
Mr. Adrian Beharry is a specialist in the fields of maritime economics and is currently a member of the International Association of Maritime Economists, where he serves as an associate editor of the Profession and Practice section of the Maritime Economist E- Magazine.
