The objectives of this facility is to provide the students with the ability to experimentally investigate the use of various bio-processing schemes to transform organic feed into valuable products such as pharmaceuticals, food additives, bio-fuels etc. At present, priority is given to a project in which Natural gas is transformed into animal feed. Bio-remediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated sites could be investigated if there is sufficient demand. This lab is equipped with:

Sartorius Biostat B-plus 5L fermenter equipped with pH, dissolved oxygen, level, and temperature sensors. The unit is capable of O2-enrichment, stirrer speeds up to 2000 rpm, air flow rates up to 20 L/h, maximum temperature 150 0C. Built-in programmable pumps for acid, base, level and foam control.
