The University of Trinidad and Tobago's (UTT) Maritime Studies programmes, based at the Chaguaramas Campus, offers specialised training in both shore-based and seafaring sectors of maritime operations. These programmes attract students from across the Caribbean, including members of regional defense forces, thereby strengthening maritime capacity and fostering regional cooperation.
On Tuesday 13 May, 2025, Stephan Nanan, Programme Leader, UTT, was formally presented with a token of appreciation by Lieutenant Commander Wayne Richmond, a distinguished officer of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and a current student of UTT. Lieutenant Commander Richmond has exemplified dedication, discipline, and academic excellence throughout his studies. He has consistently demonstrated respect and professionalism towards faculty and staff, earning the admiration of those he interacted with.
The token, presented on behalf of the GDF, symbolises the Force's enduring commitment to regional collaboration in maritime education and training. It also serves as a gesture of sincere appreciation to The University of Trinidad and Tobago - particularly the Chaguaramas Campus - for its role in advancing maritime capacity within the region.
