On Thursday 25th April, 2024, uStart, The University of Trinidad and Tobago’s (UTT)business incubator/accelerator, held its business market at UTT Point Lisas Campus.  The basis of this event was to provide a forum for businesses owned and operated by students, staff and alumni of UTT, with an intention to boost the entrepreneurial mindset within the University.

Furthermore, the market was expected to: 

This event brought together an array of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, which created an atmosphere ripe with opportunity. Business owners showcased their innovative ideas and disruptive solutions from various sectors, which included engineering, agriculture, food andbeverage, fashion and manufacturing. The venue was abuzz as students and staff alike visited the booths, admiring and purchasing a number of items from these start-up entrepreneurs.  It was truly admirable to see such a show of support for the market and business owners. 

One of the main highlights was entrepreneurs seizing the opportunity to interact with each other, collaborate and network, as they recognised that they are all navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship.  The uStart Business Market served as a catalyst, as it sparked new connections and alliances, which we anticipate will bear fruition in the future.

As we reflect on the success of the uStart Business Market, it is clear that events such as these ignite the entrepreneurial spirit within the University. The uStart Team intends to continue to push the boundaries to provide support, create the environment and harness opportunities for entrepreneurs.
