Building Confidence, Skills and Career Readiness
UTT Outreach continues to play a critical role in youth development through the LEAP Life-Skills Programme, delivered in partnership with the Chin Yuen Kee Trust. The initiative provides young adults with the practical skills, mentorship, and guidance needed to successfully transition into the world of work and responsible citizenship.
Designed for young adults, the programme focuses on strengthening confidence, communication, and decision-making skills while encouraging personal growth and career readiness. Participants completed a structured curriculum covering workplace communication, career development, networking, ethics, and personal development. Mentorship formed a key component of the programme, supporting participants in goal setting, career planning, and navigating real-world challenges.
UTT strengthened this initiative through the LEAP Programme (Enhanced) in the second cycle, which was completed between January and March 2026, by integrating work internships to augment personal enrichment information sessions. Through interactive workshops and practical activities, participants were encouraged not only to learn new concepts but to apply them through meaningful projects.
This programme highlights the value of partnerships between academia and the philanthropic efforts of the Chin Yuen Kee Trust in creating meaningful opportunities for youth development.
Dr Zameer Mohammed, Assistant Vice President at UTT Outreach, commended the Chin Yuen Kee Trust for partnering with UTT Outreach to build a cadre of young professionals with civic consciousness, national pride, and a positive work ethic.
The LEAP Life-Skills Programme reflects UTT’s ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for young adults beyond traditional academic pathways. Combining practical training, mentorship, and community engagement. This initiative equips participants with the confidence, skills, and mindset needed to navigate the modern workplace and contribute positively to national development. Through continued collaboration with partners such as the Chin Yuen Kee Trust, UTT Outreach remains dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders, innovators, and responsible citizens.
