Vidia Singh, the highest achiever in the Diploma in Ornamental Horticulture graduating class of 2011, was honoured by the owners of Kairi Blooms who decided to name their new Anthurium cultivar after her.
Each year, Mrs. Jennifer Avey and Mr. Hugh Avey host students of Ornamental Horticulture at their farm, Kairi Blooms, the largest local producer of Anthuriums. Mrs. Avey successfully produces new cultivars by a process of cross pollination, selection and testing.

This year, during the Cooperative Education Semester, Vidia so impressed the Aveys and their staff with her commitment, dedication to purpose, enthusiasm, interest and high level of performance, that they unanimously agreed to name a new cultivar "Vidia".

"Vidia" is a beautiful; off white flower with mother of pearl undertones that has a vase life of more than two weeks.

UTT salutes Vidia and Kairi Blooms on this noteworthy conferment.
