In September, 2017, thanks to a generous grant from the US Embassy to Barbados, members of the UTT Ibis Ensemble go on tour to Grenada, Dominica and Barbados. Facilitated by Assistant Professor of Double Bass, Caitlyn Kamminga, this trip will include public performances, as well as masterclasses and technical workshops for secondary and tertiary level music students. Eager to promote the programmes of UTT’s Academy for the Performing Arts, to cultivate lasting connections with other arts organizations in the Caribbean, and to maintain national and international profile, UTT Ibis Ensemble is excited to embark upon this, its first major tour.  

As a Caribbean-based entity, UTT Ibis Ensemble is keen to promote Trinidadian and Caribbean based composer’s works, and as such, this 2017 tour will showcase Songs and Dances of the Islands by London-based Trinidadian composer Dominique Le Gendre.  Future tours for UTT Ibis Ensemble include a trip in the Spring of 2019 to the American Northeast, where they will partner with the University of Delaware on performances of River of Freedom, written by APA professors Adam Walters and Caitlyn Kamminga.
