Full- time ONLY:

Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CSEC (CXC O’Level) General Proficiency in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III or equivalent GCE O’Levels including Grades A, B or C in Mathematics, English Language and a science subject.

Preference will be given to persons currently employed in a school environment.
Part-Time ONLY:

Teacher’s Diploma or any other qualification from a recognized tertiary-level institution. Qualified students may apply for exemptions from equivalent courses in accordance with the University of Trinidad and Tobago student regulations (2009), Policy 015.

Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CSEC (CXC O’Level) General Proficiency in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III or equivalent GCE O’Levels including Grades A, B or C in Mathematics, English Language and a science subject from among the list of Integrated Science, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Human and Social Biology and Agricultural Science. Credits in science studies from a CAPE or a previous tertiary-level programme will be favorably considered.

Additional Criteria for Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Care and Education Specialisation
Early Childhood Care and Education

Currently employed as an Early Childhood Care Assistant Teacher or Facilitator

Must be in possession of a Police Certificate of Good Character
NB: Consideration of credit exemptions will be given to persons already possessing a Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education.
Mature Entry:
Mature students with Associate degrees or Diplomas in related specialisations would receive favourable consideration. Also taken into consideration are:

Teachers who have at least three years of experience with teaching in schools, based locally, regionally, or internationally.

Teachers with five and more years of experience teaching at the primary level in public or private schools based locally, regionally, or internationally.

Special Needs and Primary Education - SPED

Technical Vocational Education (Secondary)
This specialization will prepare students for Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQ) competences as well as for CXC examinations in selected technical and vocational subjects areas. This specialization in Vocational and Technical Education prepares the teachers who can teach vocational and technology education courses. These teachers will teach toward the goals of vocational literacy and technological literacy.
Other careers
The Bachelor of Education - Special Needs and Primary Education offers a foundation which graduates have used as the basis for graduate studies towards careers such as School Psychologists, School Social Workers, Speech-Language Pathologist, Special Education Administrator, technology specialist are other career paths that our graduates can pursue.
Self-employment is another of the options for the graduate from this programme.
