UTT's History

As an entrepreneurial University mandated to, "discover and develop entrepreneurs, commercialise research and development, and spawn companies for wealth generation", UTT’s primary focus is on the development of Trinidad and Tobago. Established in 2004, UTT received Institutional Accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) in December 2010. UTT is dedicated to providing tertiary education and training and continues to empower nationals to work together to build Trinidad and Tobago’s human capacity. From Science and Technology to Education, the Arts, Sport and Security, UTT delivers quality education at its twelve (12) campuses.

The University specialises in the delivery of industry-relevant Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees.  To date, more than seven thousand (7000) nationals have graduated from UTT with degrees that contribute to capacity building within Trinidad and Tobago.  Many graduates also go on to establish their own businesses thereby fulfilling the University’s entrepreneurial mandate.
Programme Accreditation continues to be prioritised by the University.  Although UTT enjoys Institutional Accreditation through ACTT, the University also actively seeks specialised programme accreditation with international bodies. Specialised Programme Accreditation not only gives UTT recognition for the calibre of its programme offerings, but, such accreditation also affords graduates the opportunity to seek professional membership within these international bodies.
