Mechatronics is the synergistic integration of mechanical systems, electronics, and computer control to achieve a functional system. Mechatronics is a design philosophy that takes the systems engineering approach and applies it to the development of modern hybrid devices. This group seeks to use this approach to develop solutions and products that would not be possible otherwise. Our research involves areas such as robotics and industrial automation, but can be applied even to the development of drone technology, IoT and home automation devices.
Thumru - the robotic tabla player
This is a robot that is being developed to be able to play the tabla with the same level of skill as an expert human player. Thumru is also being used as part of a study on the use of technology in table education.
