Mrs. Indira Rampaul-Cheddie is a Senior State Counsel at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries. She has spent over fifteen (15) years in the petroleum industry, in several legal, commercial and leadership roles. She specialises in negotiation, drafting of contracts relating to every phase of the petroleum industry, drafting of legislation, formulation of policy and dealing with regulatory issues.
Mrs. Rampaul-Cheddie is affiliated with a number of organisations in the local and international petroleum industry and has presented and/or published for, inter alia, the Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean; Society for Petroleum Engineers; Association of International Petroleum Negotiators; Oil, Gas and Energy Law Intelligence Journal; Journal of Energy and Natural Resources Law and CEPMLP, Centre Annual Review, The University of the West Indies (UWI) and The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT).
She has a wealth of experience in her field which includes leading a multi-disciplinary team from The Earth Institute, Columbia University, New York, USA, in advising the government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste on their 2012 competitive bid rounds. She was the Legal Specialist on the team coordinated by the Energy Chamber to advise the IDB-MIF Programme for Strengthening The Private Sectors Role in the Caribbean Communitys External Trade Negotiations on the Energy Services Sector in the Caribbean and served as an Adjunct Law Professor with Seton Hall Law School, New Jersey, USA and the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
Ms. Rampaul-Cheddie holds a Masters of Business Administration from Anglia Ruskin University, an Executive Certificate in Conflict Management from the University of Windsor, a Masters of Biblical Studies from the Trinity School of Theology, an LL.M. in Petroleum Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy, a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School and an LL.B. degree from The University of the West Indies (UWI).
