JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY
To provide practical support to instructional delivery through demonstrations and practical supervision in the area of workshop technology/mechanical engineering. The incumbent will be expected to prepare and oversee practical workshop exercises in support of courses within the Diploma in Maritime Operations programme.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports the Instructor by providing practical demonstration of workshop exercises.

Supports the Instructor by assessing and grading practical workshop assignments.

Maintains register of students in the practical workshops in accordance with the requirements of the Quality Management System of UTT Chaguaramas campus.

Provides regular and timely feedback to students regarding workshop assignments.

Coordinates the procurement and inventory of tools, parts and consumables for workshop activities.

Demonstrates proper use of workshop tools, machinery and safety equipment.

Supervises students in hands-on activities such as engine maintenance and machining.

Maintains a safe and organised workshop environment compliant with health, safety and environmental standards.

Inspects, maintains and calibrates workshop equipment and training aids regularly.

Enforces safety protocols, ensuring students use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following risk assessment procedures.

Performs any other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

NETD (or higher qualification) in Mechanical Engineering.

Craftsman Certificate in machining and fitting.

Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant working experience.
COMPETENCIES

Sound knowledge of the area of instruction being demonstrated
