The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), hosted its 8th biennial Caribbean GIS conference at the Hilton, Barbados from September 5th - 8th 2016. The conference, which is the only event of its type dedicated to sharing research and development amongst the Caribbean GIS community was attended by UTT marine sciences’ student Priya Pollard and her project supervisor, Mr. Deanesh Ramsewak - Senior Instructor in GIS and Remote Sensing. Priya presented a paper entitled "A review of GIS and remote sensing methods for Sargassum sp. mapping and monitoring in the Caribbean" at the conference which was well received.
