UTT’s Co-op Approach: A Better Work-Fit for You
In addition to its programme offerings, UTT is also committed not only to excellence in teaching, training and research, but also to relevance in these core areas. As such, programmes and initiatives are put in place to develop and emphasise the necessary skills for entry into and success throughout the world of work.
This focus can be seen in UTT’s use of the Co-op approach in the delivery of its programmes. The Co-op approach is a structured educational strategy that combines institutional learning with relevant practical experience in the workplace. Emphasis is placed on inter-personal skills, oral and written communication and testing of classroom theory in a practical work environment.
UTT offers excellent placement opportunities as bridging points between the University and the wider industry. The University’s Career Development Unit has placed more than 80% of its students in training positions. Professional Work Attachment helps students develop essential communication, interpersonal and presentation skills for use in the business and industrial workplace. It also provides the opportunity for students to gain hands-on industry experience.
