The University of Trinidad and Tobago’s (UTT) Senior Sport Officer, Mushtaque Mohammed, has been inducted into the First Citizens Sports Foundation Hall of Fame. The prestigious Awards and Induction Ceremony was held March 26th, 2023. Mohammed is one of nine Executive Vice-Presidents of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), and President of the FIVB Development Commission. In 2020, Mohammed was re-elected as Vice-President of the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA). He also serves as President of the NORCECA Development Commission and has been an active member of the Confederation since 1996. The former Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation (TTVF) President is also President of the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA). He was instrumental in the success of the Trinidad and Tobago Senior Women's National Volleyball team which qualified for the FIVB Women's Grand Prix and World Championships, for the first time in our country’s volleyball history. In 1997, he was elected as an executive member of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) and held the position of Vice President of the TTOC from 2005-2013. Throughout his administrative career, Mohammed has been to three (3) Olympic Games and has supervised sporting events at numerous levels ranging from the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, Pan American Games, NORCECA Tournaments, to FIVB World Championships, and World Cups. At UTT, Mohammed is part of the Students, University Campuses and Communities Education and Sport Services (SUCCESS) Unit which provides top-quality, accessible and exciting sporting opportunities at all participation levels for UTT staff and students across all campuses.
