DAPMC's (Derwin Antoine Project Management Consultancy) Team has extensive experience (collectively, over 100 years) and technical competence in Project Management, Architecture & Business Strategy across a wide cross-section of industries. Derwin Antoine has managed large, complex, multi-use Development Projects, for example his “Pivotal Leadership Roles" in Project Management at the multi-national giants - British American Tobacco (BAT) & Trinidad Tissues Ltd (Kruger). Derwin Antoine is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with The Project Management Institute (PMI) and certified PMI Member. All of these successes could not have been achieved without three (3) core competencies and values taught from The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and, more specifically, the Design and Manufacturing Engineering programme.
Most of the projects previously managed as a Project Manager, and now as a Project Consultant, were primarily engineering-type projects. The common year at UTT touched on all engineering disciplines which helped prepare me to have an appreciation and understanding of different engineering projects. The Design and Manufacturing Engineering programme helped further cement this as the courses covered touched on a wide range of engineering-based subject areas, including Instrumentation and Controls, Engineering Design principles and Mechanical Engineering, to name a few.
Successful leaders are innovative and creative individuals who continuously develop new skills to integrate with their current capabilities. Training at UTT in Human Resource Management and the Leadership and Problem Development Workshop (PDWK), helped me to integrate leadership skills with project management skills, developing new leadership skills to complement project management skills learnt over the years.
DAPMC was founded with the simple objective of HELPING organisations achieve SUCCESS! We believe Systematic, Innovative, Project Management Principles hold the KEY to achieving Value Creation.
DAPMC also believes that Disciplined Approaches Produce Measurable Creativity!
Envisioning GREAT IDEAS may be thought of as……Creativity; however, Innovation is bringing these “great ideas” to LIFE! One of the selfless aspirations of DAPMC is to engender a CULTURE of creativity, against the backdrop of a disciplined workforce where Integrity is the cornerstone of the organisation. These values, vision, confidence and skills learnt through the Entrepreneurship, Management & Business Practices course at UTT are some of the cornerstones upon which DAPMC is built.
UTT is a university that champions diversification for the future development of Trinidad and Tobago, creating entrepreneurs and innovative and technological students of the future.
Most of my projects for the past decade have been executed in the Manufacturing sector. The courses, both theoretical and practical, in the Design and Manufacturing Engineering degree programme have equipped me with the skills needed to adequately execute all my projects, from small to large, in this sector. Some courses, such as Operations Management, Strengths of Materials, Material Science, Mechatronics, Engineering Design, Introduction to Electrical Systems, Instrumentation and Controls, Human Resource Management and Leadership, and Quality Management, to name a few have been vital to the success of all my projects, particularly in the Manufacturing sector over the last decade. Most of all, the training gained in the Entrepreneurship, Management & Business Practices (BPRE), coupled with the learning experience of being the 2011/2012 Business Idea Competition winner helped catapult my business to become the success it is today.
