Michael Cherrie received his professional training for the stage and screen at The National Theatre Conservatory's Master of Fine Arts programme, Denver Center for the Performing Arts where he was seen in such productions as 'Equus' and 'A Midsummer's Night Dream'. Credits in the United States also include 'A Streetcar named Desire' and 'The Three Sisters' at The Denver Center Theatre Company; 'Othello' at The Houston Shakespeare Festival; 'Antony and Cleopatra' and 'Romeo and Juliet' at The Colorado Shakespeare Festival; 'The Tempest' at The Mill Mountain Theatre in Virginia; 'The Joker of Seville' and 'Dream on Monkey Mountain' at The Huntington Theatre, Boston, 'Caribeana Imperia' at GALA Hispanic Theatre, Washington DC and 'A Raisin in the Sun' with Crossroads Repertory Theatre, Indiana. Credits in the Caribbean include 'I, Marcus Garvey' at The Department of Creative and Festival Arts, UWI; 'Ti-Jean and His Brothers' with The Trinidad Theatre Workshop, 'Pantomime' at the Little Carib Theatre and 'Sing de Chorus' with Canboulay Productions at The Reichhold Arts Centre, St. Thomas. Film and TV credits include: 'The Final Passage' for UK's Channel 4; 'The Mystic Masseur' for Merchant Ivory Films; 'Angel in a Cage' for Telefilm Canada, 'Flight of the Ibis', 'Westwood Park' and 'The Reef'. He won the 1995 Cacique Award for Best Supporting Actor, completed the 2007 Stella Adler Conservatory/Trinidad Theatre Workshop Summer Intensive and has worked with such directors as Sir Peter Hall, Ismail Merchant, Greg Doran and Derek Walcott. He is a graduate of the UWI Film Programme, served on the board of the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company and is a member of Actors' Equity Association of America.
