The UTTSG takes part or hosts several major events for the year. These events are catered with you in mind and geared towards ensuring that you have an enhanced student experience whilst at the UTT.

 

From Orientation to Graduation take a look at our signature events through your UTT journey!

Your Very First Event. The UTTSG takes part in every aspect of your new student orientation event. From the initial planning with SDU to the actual execution and fun events at the end. Usually the first few weeks in every academic year the UTTSG is there to bring greetings, welcome, information and VIBES. We also lead you in the Student Oath a UTTSG established tradition. Campus Spirt 101 is your first introduction to your campus’s color, mascot and chant.

A unique wind down to the orientation weeks the Student Guild takes you through to your second most important course University Pride 868. Brilliantly coined UnaTTion this is our display of UTT being the National University of Trinidad and Tobago. Hosted off the heels of Republic Day, UnaTTion starts off with a display of all campus’s clubs and societies, student entrepreneurs, student talents, external companies, NGOs, UTT departments and student support services. The full UTTSG is on display at the National Academy for the Performing Arts with a Fair that is open to all students and the general public to enjoy games, activities and of course FREE giveaways.

At the night of UnaTTion we light up the sky with our signature fireworks display and performances by several local artists at our huge afterparty at the National Stadium.

Think about this as your mid-term exams for Campus Spirit 101, table tennis, cricket and football. Each main campus has a chance to compete at these games held at different times throughout the academic year and win not just bragging rights for the best campus at that game but to collect points towards your final exam at Students Sports Day.

UTTSG provides uniforms, refreshments, equipment and everything else you just bring the vibes !

If there was ever a day to settle your rivalries this is The Day! UTT Students Sports Day is held annually in March and gives each main campus an opportunity to compete in athletic and novelty events to determine who will have the bragging rights to be the champion of the year. Do you remember that course Campus Spirt 101? Well this is your yearly final exam where your chants, energy, vibes and knowing how to have fun is tested.

We prepare the start of this event with the highly anticipated march pass which in its own rights has a champion determined by the campus with the best display of coordination, color and creativity. We crown several champions during the day for instance the champion of tug-o-war, the most supported campus, the Spirit Captain and campus with the most vibes. The champion of champions is crown by the end of the day having won the most points not just on sports day but throughout the year at inter-campus games.

After the dust has been cleared and the battle for sports day champion has been won all colors combine for the biggest after carnival, after sports, after we scream all day party ‘AFTERMATH’. Held on the night of sports at which ever venue the UTT Sports Day is held. You have just a couple hours after sports to go get ready to party in our hallmark event that includes performances from our very own student talents and popular artistes.

AFTERMATH is a party of love even after all day we battle to prove who the best campus is we come together as 10 Campuses 1 University and of course the others who got their tickets in time. Did we mention that if you take part in the march pass or any event during the day you can get a chance to be in AFTERMATH for FREE?

A formal ceremony to usher in the new Elected Officers into governance and to show appreciation to the officers who have paved the way. The UTTSG inauguration ceremonies are held twice yearly one for Chapter Guild and one for the Executive Student Guild. At this ceremony the UTT honors the UTTSG for its service and representation. This is the official appointment ceremony for all new officers after winning elections and being trained.

UTTSG traditions are overserved such as flag procession and oath of office.

It’s sad to see you go but we’re glad to see you grow. One of the final events the UTTSG sees our students is at The UTT Graduation Ceremony. Usually held annually in November, the UTTSG takes part in this event where some of our traditions are observed. One such tradition is the flag procession where we lead you as a Graduate into the ceremonial hall and present you to the Chancellor. The UTTSG also opens the ceremony with an inter-faith pray. One of the happiest moments in this ceremony is the guard-of-honour formed by the UTTSG where we cheer each and every one of you who have made it to this point. Good luck Grandaunts!

Finally we bid you farewell in elegant style after the Graduation Ceremony the UTTSG hosts its Ball like a true Gala event. A night to remember with all your friends, families and favourite lecturers, dressed to kill we dine to a themed evening with refreshments and entertainment worthy of your proud achievements.
