Denzil Rajack-Prayag, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) candidate in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), represented Trinidad and Tobago at the Fundamentals of International Law and Security Programme at Rashtriya Raksha University in India.

The two-week programme provided a valuable opportunity for Rajack-Prayag to engage with professionals, diplomats, academics, military officers and security practitioners from eighteen countries, united by a shared commitment to strengthening international law, global security and international cooperation, in an increasingly complex world.

Through the programme, he gained insights into key areas including international law, maritime and ocean governance, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, national security, diplomacy and human security, while exploring the evolving challenges facing the international community.

The experience also extended beyond the classroom, providing opportunities for meaningful dialogue, cultural exchange and the development of professional relationships with participants from diverse backgrounds.

Rajack-Prayag expressed his appreciation to the Government of India, the Ministry of External Affairs, Rashtriya Raksha University, the School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies (SICMSS), the International Centre for Regulatory and Border Studies (ICRB), as well as the faculty members, coordinators and support staff who contributed to the success of the programme.

As an Attorney-at-Law and Ph.D. researcher in cybersecurity, Rajack-Prayag noted that the experience reinforced his belief in the importance of collaborative, rules-based and internationally coordinated approaches to addressing complex global challenges.

He returned to Trinidad and Tobago with new knowledge, international perspectives and professional connections, and a renewed commitment to applying these insights in support of national development, the Caribbean region and the wider international community.

The University commends Rajack-Prayag on his recent achievements and looks forward to his continued contribution to the fields of cybersecurity, international security and emerging technologies.
