The Université des Antilles et de la Guyane in Guadeloupe, hosted an Caribbean Electron Microscopy School for training on the use of both transmission and scanning electron microscopy (TEM and SEM respectively), between October 26 - November 3, 2015. Training included lecture sessions as well as hands on practical training in the areas of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Environmental Scanning Electron   Microscopy (ESEM), Preparation using Focused Ion Beam (FIB), High Resolution Electron Microscopy, Image treatment and analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Electron diffraction, Biological Sample examination in TEM/STEM, Electron Energy Loss Spectrometry (EELS) and Energy Filtered Imaging (EFI), X rays Emission Spectrometry and Electron tomography.  Dr. Reia Guppy participated in this training workshop, with particular focus on SEM techniques.  Facilitators included persons from throughout the Caribbean and Europe representing the University French West Indies Guadeloupe, FEI Company, EDF R&D, and the University French West Indies Guadeloupe, University of Lille, Materials Research Center Kronembourg, and the Federal Polytechnic School Lausanne Switzerland.
