USITT's Annual Conference & Stage Expo provides education, networking and hands-on opportunities to theatre and live entertainment industry professionals.  It is also an opportunity to share and explore innovative technologies, new products, and methods while fostering lifelong connections.

This year, APA Student Guild President Akena Jones, Theatre Design & Production student Makesi Smith and I will be attending this year’s United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) 2019 Conference and Stage Expo in Louisville, Kentucky.  Ms Jones and Mr Smith are continuing the tradition of UTT/APA students attending this event started by previous students last year.

I will have the opportunity to speak at the Education Commission’s Roundtable discussion on its Teaching Archive.  The discussion will concern the process of submitting work to the USITT Creative Teaching Archive with the goal of sharing and discussing new ideas from across a spectrum of disciplines in the performing arts.

We cannot thank enough UTT, The Academy for the Performing Arts community and Professor Kwamé Ryan for their support each year to help make this trip possible.  We look forward to continued support as we begin preparing for USITT 2020 in Houston, Texas.
