The APA Pan Fellowship is a ground-breaking programme offering participants a culturally immersive and practical learning environment, infused with the traditions of steelpan in the broader context of indigenous percussion and pan-Caribbean music. The fellowship strives to produce well-rounded practitioners, familiar with the community-building qualities of pan and the cultural connectivity inherent in its heritage.
Whether you are an emerging or established artist, based regionally or internationally, participation in the Fellowship will facilitate interaction with international pannists from all over the world as you broaden your understanding of pan’s history and contemporary potential.
As a Pan Fellow at the Academy for the Performing Arts, you will join classes such as History of Steelband, Rhythms of the Engine Room and Cultural Connections Seminar, while taking opportunities to interact with members of the steelpan fraternity across the twin islands. Due to its modular design, Fellows will have options to start their programmes of study via blended online delivery, adding advanced modules requiring a presence in Trinidad and Tobago.
