Academic Unit: Foundations and Prior Learning

Ms Monica Boodhan is a Senior Instructor at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. She is a Physicist, with a passion for teaching, research and philanthropy.

She believes that education is the key that can open the door to success in all facets of life, and strongly advocates for quality, non-discriminatory education opportunities. She is a strong advocate for environmental preservation, and sustainable development, and has over 15 to 17 years of experience in Desalination, Renewable Energy Technologies and tertiary-level teaching experience.

She has a wealth of management and training experience and has served as a trainer in Solar Energy at various workshops across the Caribbean and Bangladesh.

Ms. Boodhan receives grants and scholarships to attend conferences, academic exchanges, seminars and workshops across the globe, from various international institutions and government agencies such as the International Center for Theoretical Physics, the People's Republic of China, the European Union, and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and corporate giants such as Aquatech International. She actively represents her country and the UTT at these events.

Monica served as the Regional Representative for the International Desalination Association's Young Leaders Program from 2015 to 2022, and in 2019, she received the prestigious Emerging Leader Achievement Award from the IDA. She is a Director and the Secretary of CaribDA, and in 2022 she received the Presidential Award for her exemplary service to CaribDA.
