Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Susan Mohip started dancing at the tender age of three. With the immense support and guidance of her mother, she became Trinidad’s leading creative and film dancer. BABY SUSAN as she is fondly called, became a name synonymous with dance. She has won many local competitions in Trinidad including Mastana Bahar and Twelve and under.
She received her initial training in kathak dance from Shri Pradeep Shankar, before leaving Trinidad in 1989 to further her studies in India. She later received an I.C.C.R. scholarship from the government of India and completed her Masters Degree in Kathak dance under Shrimati Vaswati Mishra. Susan has also studied various folk dances of India and has studied Hindustani Classical Vocal at the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, India.
She has toured extensively and has performed for many local and visiting International dignitaries. She continues to make invaluable contributions to Indian Classical Dance and Culture. She is an instructor II of dance at the Academy for the Performing Arts, University of Trinidad & Tobago
