Lamar Pollard is a Ph.D student at The University of Trinidad and Tobago, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the Performing Arts and a Master of Arts in Carnival Studies, graduating as the valedictorian and top of the class respectively. His research interests lie in the field of Cultural Studies, with specific focus on the areas of Carnival history, festival management theory, and production design. He currently functions as the Stage Management and Production Management lecturer within the Theatre, Design and Production Faculty, and also oversees all major Academy events in his role as Production Manager.
A skilled multi-disciplinarian, Lamar’s talents also include music production and sound engineering. He is also a proficient bassist and has opened for world renowned acts, such as Steel Pulse and Barrington Levy as part of reggae band, 'Buzzrock'. He has also worked with the Roaring Lion Calypso Foundation for a number of years, producing cultural audio and visual content, and also offering free music productions and sound engineering training to at-risk youth in various communities.
