Aidan Chamberlain joined UTT in 2009 where he teaches trombone, co-directs the Brass Ensemble and Big Band, lectures in Music Theory and Arranging and performs regularly with the Music Faculty.
Upon graduating from the Guildhall School of Music in 1995, he joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic and was a member for six (6) years. Whilst in Hong Kong, he also worked as a chamber musician and taught at the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts and Hong Kong Baptist University.
In 2001, Aidan moved to the United Kingdom (UK) and worked as a freelance trombonist in recording sessions, West End shows and with many top British orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony and Royal Opera House Orchestras under conductors such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Bernard Haitink and Kurt Masur. He led school music workshops across the country and taught brass at Reading University.
Aidan encourages students to study a wide variety of styles from Baroque to Modern and Jazz whilst also being adept in local styles such as Calypso, all backed by a solid grounding in Music Theory. This then gives them the tools needed to be successful in the modern professional music business.
