Criminology Graduate Makes Waves in Athletics and Local Health Sector

Kirdell McIntosh, a distinguished UTT alum, is making waves in both the professional and athletic realms. After graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Criminology and Public Safety, Kirdell is currently a vital part of the Nutrition and Dietetic Department at the South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA).
 
Having started as a promising track and field athlete, Kirdell’s achievements include being a finalist at the Cave Hill Invitational in Barbados, a qualifier for the World University Games in South Korea, and a three-time Penn Relays qualifier in the United States. Notably, he also secured the Olympic Trials event 400m championship in 2021. Having transitioned seamlessly into coaching, Kirdell now heads the Appaloosa Athletics Track and Field team in Trinidad and Tobago. Under his guidance, three young athletes secured full athletic scholarships to esteemed institutions like Monroe College, Central Arizona College, and Limestone University.
 
Beyond athletics, Kirdell’s dedication extends to education and community development. He is a Ministry of Sport and Community Development Lecturer, teaching Health and Fitness. Additionally, he serves as a Regional Representative for Trinidad and Tobago Youth Ambassadors, and recently represented the country in a seminar on High-quality Development of Cross-border E-commerce in Food Circulation hosted by the People’s Republic of China.
 
Kirdell’s journey showcases the fusion of academic excellence, athletic prowess, and a commitment to community service. His recent completion of the World Athletics Level one coaching certification is a testament to his continuous pursuit of knowledge. As a head coach, healthcare professional, and lecturer, Kirdell embodies the spirit of achievement and giving back. His success stands as an inspiration for current and prospective UTT students, demonstrating that with determination and passion, one can excel in diverse fields and positively impact the community.
