The Diploma in Computer, Network and Telecommunication Engineering programme aims to produce graduates who are industry ready and capable of evolving with the changes in information and communication technologies. Students learn best practices in Installation, Configuration and Maintenance of Communication Networks and Computer devices. Graduates may be eligible for direct access to any of UTT’s engineering bachelor degree programmes.

This programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer.

Entry Requirements:

• Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CSEC (CXC O’Level) General Proficiency in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III or equivalent GCE O’Levels including Grades A, B or C in Mathematics, English Language; (Passes in CXC (CSEC) Chemistry and Physics will be an asset) OR
• Completion of UTT’s Pre-University Programme (PUP) or Certificate in Applied Engineering programme with a minimum of 50% in ALL attempted subject areas; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications may also be considered.

Mature Student Entry:

An applicant who does not satisfy all the stipulated minimum academic or technical qualifications for admission to the programme may be accepted as a Mature Student. He/she would need to possess the critical elements of the stipulated qualification and would be assessed by the UTT Programme Head as possessing a combination of qualifications and educational or experiential maturity to enable him/her to successfully participate in the programme. To be considered for mature entry into the programme the following criteria will be used:

1. Age (At least 25 years of age)
2. Relevant Work Experience (At least 5 years work experience in the field)
3. Pass in Mathematics (Must possess CXC/ CSEC (or equivalent) pass in Mathematics)

The Diploma in Software Engineering programme provides a platform for employment that utilizes computer hardware, software and networking technologies. The Diploma in Visual Communications Design programme focuses on the specialised competencies necessary to create optimum visual solutions for Advertising, Corporate Identity, Illustration, Publications, Packaging, Web Design, photography, videography and associated practices in today’s dynamic design markets. The primary objective of the programme is to develop and master the conceptual skills that distinguish top managers, directors and designers and prepare the students for creative problem solving which enables them to convey a client’s message in an imaginative, visually arresting way regardless of the selected media.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must be highly motivated persons from a variety of backgrounds with a sound secondary education and a strong aptitude in Art who wish to acquire the skills necessary to successfully pursue careers in today's design environment;

Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CSEC (CXC O'Level) General Proficiency in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III or equivalent GCE O'Levels including Grades A, B or C in Mathematics, English Language, and Art.

Other equivalent qualifications may also be considered.

Additional Requirements:

A portfolio submission which demonstrates evidence of creative/artistic aptitude, for candidates selected to attend the interview stage of the evaluation process.

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering programme is a full honours engineering programme that prepares students for careers as professional IT specialists, locally and internationally. The first and second years of the programme are common to all three options. Students begin their specialisation in the third year of the programme. The programme options are as follows:

The Master of Science in Information and Communication Technology seeks to prepare students to lead, supervise, analyse, design, develop, test and maintain ICT systems through research and development activities. This programme within the Centre for Information and Communications Technology (CICT) reaffirms UTT's commitment to developing the critical thinking and experiential skills needed to navigate new and emerging technologies within national and global contexts. 

The programme prepares graduates for employment and ICT careers in the Public and Private sectors in the following areas/industries: Banking, Government, Insurance, Manufacturing, Utilities e.g. T&TEC, TSTT, WASA, Health, National Security, Energy Companies, virtually any company using ICT technologies to advance their business strategy. 

The Master of Science in Information and Communication Technology programme is accredited by the UK Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and graduates from the programme are able to meet partial requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer - Further Learning.

The MSc in Cybersecurity seeks to prepare students to prevent, counter, and recover from cybercrimes and cyberattacks. As this area of expertise is multi-disciplinary the programme provides strong foundations in IT security, criminology, management, law, science, business technology, and psychology. The Master of Philosophy is awarded on completion of a thesis, based on innovative work, demonstrating evidence of mastery in the application of advanced techniques in the solution of a research problem, and the successful completion of a minimum of four (4) mandatory research courses and a minimum of four (4) seminars. There must be an oral defence of the Thesis. 

Taught courses are offered online. Meetings relating to supervisor directed courses are held using communication applications such as Zoom or MS Teams. Special arrangements may be made for laboratory and personal interaction, should the need arise, in keeping with existing health protocols.

• Persons holding a Taught Master’s Degree from an approved university with a B average or equivalent GPA. 
• Persons holding a Bachelor’s degree from an approved university with a B+ average, or Upper Second-Class Honors or equivalent GPA. 
• Persons with other professional qualifications and industrial or business experience deemed to be suitable by the Board of Postgraduate Studies and Research.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees are awarded on the basis of a Dissertation based on original research, together with successful completion of a minimum of four (4) mandatory research courses and four (4) seminars. The written Dissertation report must provide documentation of a significant original contribution to the body of knowledge in the area of study and an oral defence of the Dissertation.
