UTT Patriots Netball student-athletes Kalifa McCollin-Lopez, Kayleea 'Joy' Songui, Jelissa Goodridge, Shaniya Morgan, and walk-on athlete, Destiny Williams have been selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago's Women Under-21 National Netball team, which will compete at the Netball World Youth Cup Qualifier for the Americas, from 7-14 July, 2024 in Guadeloupe.

Since April 2024, Kalifa (Head Coach) has been spearheading the team's preparation, along with her technical staff, which includes former national player and UTT Netball student-athlete, Crystal-Ann George (Assistant Coach). Jelissa and Shaniya were listed among the team's shooters, with Kayleea at centre court and Destiny (Captain) together with the defenders.

Other participating countries include Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Canada, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Jamaica, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Guadeloupe and Sint Marteen. The top three (3) countries will earn a spot at the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 (NWYC2025).

New Zealand, Australia, England, Fiji, Gibraltar, South Africa, Malawi, Zambia, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka have already qualified for the NWYC2025. This leaves nine (9) spots up for grabs for the top three (3) participating teams across the Americas, Europe, and Oceania Regional Federations. Europe Netball and Oceania Netball are set to host their Qualifiers in September 2024 in Wales and the Cook Islands, respectively.

The NWYC2025 will run from 19-28 September 2025 in Gibraltar. UTT wishes our student-athletes and the national team, all the best.
