I am Vanessa Charles, alumna of The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), graduating with a Bachelor in Sports Studies in 2011, and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with specialisation in Physical Education in 2017. It has been two years since I started teaching in Ireland.
In 2019, I migrated to Ireland, and in 2021, I was awarded a scholarship from Dublin City University to pursue a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Guidance Counselling, after graduating from Marino Institute of Education which is part of the Migrant Teacher's bridging programme. I am a Guidance Counsellor and Post Primary Teacher, and my subject areas are Guidance Counselling, Social, Personal and Health Education, and Physical Education.
The University of Trinidad and Tobago has been instrumental in my career development and life, as I encountered a number of dedicated and caring faculty and staff.
Special thanks to Professor Stephen Joseph for his guidance, and his excellent recommendation. I also wish to thank my secondary school Physical Education Teacher, Mrs June Bowen, for encouraging me in the field of education.
Being proud of my achievements, and where I am from, I will continue to fly the UTT flag, and my country's flag high.
