The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) proudly recognised thirteen (13) staff members who enthusiastically participated in UTT's National Aerobathon 2025. In a brief ceremony held at UTT's Chaguanas Campus, five (5) male and eight (8) female participants were celebrated for their commitment to wellness and camaraderie. Special recognition was given to Dr Andell Edwards and Ms Patrice Woodley, who were named the top-performing staff members. Both members of staff were rewarded with a $500 cash first prize, while Ms Natalie Romano received a hamper from Guiltless Yogurt for being the most energetic staff participant. A special one-month free gym membership, courtesy Athletic Central Gym, was given to Ms Alana Huggins-Brasnell and her daughter for their mother - daughter participation, highlighting the value of family inclusion in the health and wellness journey.
Delivering the keynote remarks, Ms Daisha Maxwell, AVP, Human Resources and Administration, congratulated all the participants and commended the Sport and Recreation Unit for creating an avenue that supports staff wellness and promotes team spirit. "Events like these augurs well for fostering integration across departments and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle among our staff," she said.
Also in attendance was Mr Ian Pritchard, Senior Manager, Sport and Recreation who praised the participants for their enthusiasm and urged each of them to recruit five (5) additional colleagues to join the National Aerobathon in 2026, spreading the spirit of unity and wellness even further.
Participants expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Sport and Recreation Unit for executing a flawless event. Many shared how pleasantly surprised they were by the attention and celebration received from fellow staff and well-wishers. They proudly wore their medals of participation and gave glowing reviews of the sponsor's salad bowls, noting the freshness, taste, and quality of the vegetables.
Ms Maxwell extended thanks to the Sport and Recreation Unit for inviting the Human Resources and Administration Department to be part of the initiative, reinforcing the importance of cross-departmental collaboration in building staff morale. She also expressed her gratitude for the role played by HR staff members, Davanne Edwards, Marvin Johnson and Lima Andrews-Cedeno in assisting with promoting the event and boosting registration numbers of staff and students.
Other notable attendees included Ms Davanne Edwards and Mr Marvin Johnson, Human Resources Department, as well as Senior Sport Officers Mr Mushtaque Mohammed and Mr Nicholas Lochan.
The event was a resounding success, symbolising UTT's ongoing commitment to staff development, health, and unity.
