On Saturday 19 April, 2025, The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) Men's Football Club (FC) moved into third place in Group One of the Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League (TTPFL) Tier II Division, following their win in another top-of-the-table clash against Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) FC.

In the first five minutes, UTT showed determination to get a winning result in the match. As instructed, constant attacks that were executed by UTT’s left and right wingers, Jevaughn Drakes and Darion Persad, respectively, eventually reaped rewards as the match progressed.

UTT’s first goal came in the 33rd minute from playmaker Terron Miller. Miller, who broke down QPCC’s attack, found teammate, Cyrano Glen on the halfway line, who cleverly turned on his marker to find Drakes on the left wing. Drakes slotted the ball behind two approaching QPCC defenders, toward Miller’s left foot, who then skillfully shot the ball in the far corner on his first touch to give UTT the lead.

In the second half, moves constructed by centre back Sheldon Nesbitt, and right wing back Jeremiah Rodriguez, initiated the offensive sequence to help UTT capture its second goal of the match. Rodriguez connected with Drakes on the right wing for a short pass to Marcus Griffith playing in the midfield. In a strong play to secure possession of the ball, Griffith then played a long ball to Glen, who wrong-stepped the recovering defender on the goal line to give UTT a 2-0 advantage.

UTT’s third goal came after Drakes pounced on a loose ball and eventually made a low driven pass across the 18-yard box to the boot of substitute Kaylon Williams, on the opposite wing, who side-footed the ball in the far corner.

In the 82nd minute, QPCC pulled one goal back through former national veteran Sean De Silva.

UTT FC had an excellent performance as a group, however, Drakes was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match due to his two (2) assists and his never-die attitude in the latter half of the game.

Final score 3-1.
