On Wednesday 2nd October, 2024, The University of Trinidad and Tobago's (UTT) Business Incubator- uStart, hosted a financial workshop facilitated by the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation (TTUTC). The TTUTC is known as a key stakeholder in the financial sector, making strides in the entrepreneurial eco-system.
Ms Tennille Whiskey, the TTUTC facilitator and UTT graduate is a successful entrepreneur, who engaged the participants, drawing examples from various sectors. The session, which comprised entrepreneurs and University staff, commenced with the foundation of financial planning. Also highlighted, was the importance of identifying the short, medium and long-term goals, which offered practical guidelines for effective financial planning. Ms Whiskey then segued to the topic of building one's financial portfolio, providing guidelines and examples to enhance participants' understanding.
Both entrepreneurs and staff posed numerous questions and were particularly interested when the facilitator introduced key tips to become a millionaire. Following this, the Ms Whiskey introduced the "4 Wealth Dragons for Entrepreneurs", a topic which piqued the interest of the attendees and provided relatable and every day scenarios.
The session ended with a quiz where participants were able to win prizes and subsequently, spoke one-on-one with the facilitator.
UTT's Business Incubator - uStart, continues its role to function as an engine of innovation and enterprise, fostering an ecosystem that supports entrepreneurial mindsets of students, alumni and staff of the University.
