This followed his participation in the NGC - NAAATT Junior and Senior Champs held from June 28th - 30th, 2024 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain.
Sandy has been steadily progressing in his performances over the past few years. This season, he went undefeated in all local meets, bearing his only loss to Olympian, Chad Wright in the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) All - Comers Meet at Jamaica's National Stadium in May.
In June 2024, Sandy recorded a season and personal best (PB) of 57.03m at the Masters Championships meet and was ranked the number one thrower amongst all local and foreign - based throwers in Trinidad and Tobago.
In 2023, Sandy defeated six-time national champion, Quincy Wilson, at the NGC-NAAATT Open Championship with a distance of 53.11m to take home the 2023 Men's Discus Throw national title. In that encounter, Sandy registered two (2) other PBs become ng the first to record multiple PBs at one event.
The Championships is NAAATT's marquee event that hosts some of the biggest names in the sport. In the past few years, the event saw the contention of renowned national athletes and Olympians such as Michelle-Lee Ahye, Keshorn Walcott, Reyare Thomas, Jereem Richards and Tyra Gittens.
Sandy is projected to be listed among Trinidad and Tobago's top nationals and Olympians, in the years to come.
