UTT Patriots Athletics Excel at Abilene Wildcats and Masters Events

The UTT Patriots Athletics team recorded more notable performances at the Abilene Wildcats Track Classic and Masters Championships, held on 8 and 9 June, 2024 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

At the Abilene Classic, UTT Patriot Matthew Graham finished third in the Men’s 100 Metre Dash, recording a personal best (PB) and time of 10.66 seconds.

In the Men’s 400 Metre Dash, student-athlete Nathaniel Semper - who recently ran a PB at the JAAA All-Comers Meet in May - captured a new PB of 48.97 seconds, taking second place and finishing ninth overall. UTT’s Trevon Scott, also registered PBs in the Men’s 100 Metre and 200 Metre Dash events, ending in positions nineteen and fifteen, respectively.

For the Track Classic’s Men’s 4x100 Metre Relay, Graham, Semper, Scott and Jy’ll Roberts propelled UTT to second place with a time of 42.70 seconds, ultimately landing them in position six, overall.

The following day saw the UTT Patriots throwers in action, in the Men’s Discus Throw (2kg) at the Masters Championships. Also coming off a PB in May, Kenan Alexander placed second behind teammate Umar Sandy, throwing a distance of 41.02m.

Sandy, who has placed first in all his local meets this season, continued his stellar performance with a new PB of 57.03m. With Sandy’s massive performance, he is now ranked the number-one thrower amongst all local and foreign-based throwers in Trinidad and Tobago.
