Real Students. Real Journeys. Real Outcomes.
The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) continues to transform lives through practical, industry-driven education. Trudy Daisley, former military veteran, mother and content creator, is a powerful example of that impact.
After serving in the military, Trudy began searching for a programme that would support her reintegration into civilian life while aligning with her passion for food, family and sustainable living. She selected one of UTT's Biosciences, Agriculture and Food Technologies (BAFT) programmes, drawn to its strong focus on hands-on, industry-relevant training. The integration of agricultural science with business and entrepreneurial development provided her with a solid foundation for building a sustainable future.
"Coming from a military background, I appreciated how UTT emphasises real-world application, whether through practical farming projects, in crop science, agro-processing or group work focused on developing business plans for agricultural ventures", she shared. Trudy noted that the programme equipped her with tools to better manage her time, create content around food and farming and monetise aspects of her journey.
Trudy credits UTT's applied learning approach for enabling her to apply classroom knowledge into real-life initiatives, particularly in sustainable food practices and agri-business development. She highlighted the value of UTT ECIAF Campus, which provides access to real agricultural settings, as well as entrepreneurial training in areas such as business planning and marketing.
"The programme supports reintegration by building confidence in civilian careers, offering networking opportunities and focusing on self-employment or agri-business creation," she explained.
Balancing her roles as student, mother and content creator, Trudy exemplifies how discipline, resilience and practical education can work together to create meaningful change.
Her advice to prospective students is simple: "Take the step." She encourages individuals seeking relevant, hands-on education to fully engage in the practical components of their studies and apply entrepreneurial thinking to their personal goals.
Through success stories like Trudy, UTT continues to demonstrate its commitment to preparing graduates not only for employment, but for innovation, entrepreneurship and contribution to national development. Prospective students can learn more about UTT's programmes by visiting
