The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) proudly recognises Mr Ajay Jimmy Kissoon, who represented the University at the 22nd National Youth Parliament Debate. This event was hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) on November 24, 2025 at the House Chamber, Red House, Port-of-Spain.

The 2025 Youth Parliament centred on the motion "Mitigating the Effects of Cyberbullying", invited young parliamentarians to examine the growing impact of online harassment and propose actionable policies to protect citizens and strengthen national well-being.

Ajay, a 2025 graduate of UTT's Bachelor of Applied Science in Utilities Engineering- Electrical Option, served as Minister of Labour and Member of Parliament for Point Fortin during the national debate. He completed his programme Magna Cum Laude, delivered the Valedictory Address, and earned the 2024 Most Outstanding Performance Award, as well as a PowerGen Scholarship. His record of service includes volunteering as a Peer Tutor, providing library support and active involvement in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) UTT Chapter. He was originally nominated alongside fellow student Anastasia Ramnarine who, due to unforeseen circumstances, was unable to participate.

Participants were drawn from youth organisations, Sixth Form schools and tertiary institutions nationwide. Over an intensive eight-week preparation period, they engaged in training focused on parliamentary orientation, oratory and research skills, debating techniques, the use of Standing Orders, etiquette and mock debate sessions. The programme aims to deepen young people's understanding of the parliamentary process, amplify youth perspectives on national issues and promote leadership and civic development.

UTT commends Ajay for his exemplary representation of The University of Trinidad and Tobago, and celebrates all youth participants who continue to contribute meaningfully to national dialogue and democratic engagement.
