Adrian Palmer, Head of Rehabilitation at The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), has been selected as an oral presenter at the National Health Research Conference (NHRC), to be held on November 25, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port-of-Spain.

The NHRC is Trinidad and Tobago’s premier platform for advancing the national health research agenda. Now in its sixth year, the conference serves as a key platform for sharing local research findings with stakeholders, promoting their integration into decision-making to address the nation’s health priorities. This year’s theme is "Climate Change: Impacts on Public Health."

Mr Palmer will present in the Non-Communicable Diseases session on the research topic "Alcohol Consumption Patterns and Associated Substance Use Practices Amongst Undergraduate Students at The University of Trinidad & Tobago."  This study examined alcohol consumption patterns among UTT undergraduate students and explored associations with other substance-use behaviours, including tobacco, marijuana, e-cigarettes, and illicit drugs. It identified key social and demographic factors linked to alcohol use and highlighted risky health behaviours among students. Mr Palmer will also share evidence-based recommendations to address the issues highlighted.
