The Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) is delighted with its collaboration with the Ministry of Education, hosting a workshop with Fulbright scholar and Kennedy Center Arts Education specialist, Kimberli Boyd.  Kimberli is a teaching artist who specialises in Arts Integration and in particular in integrating dance with math and science.

Students enrolled in Education in Performing Arts at APA, taught by Assistant Professor Caitlyn Kamminga and Professor Katy Gainham, were invited to attend the workshop. Other participants included APA graduates Shurvone Brathwaite, Sade Chance and Nikola Abrams-Sampson who are all currently working in arts education in Trinidad. The workshop was an incredible opportunity to offer a professional model of best practices in the field to our students and recent graduates and to work with the Ministry of Education who are piloting a program in Arts Integration.  

APA aims to be at the cutting edge of arts education in Trinidad, by providing our student-teaching artists with courses in service learning that integrate 21st century best practices and by offering professional development with leading professional teaching artists.
