Last Year, UTT's Academy for the Performing Arts TD&P Graduate Ms Faith James began pursuing her MFA degree in Costume Design and Technology in California. We share this progress update as her first year draws to an end.

Faith writes: "I am currently completing my MFA degree in costume design and technology in the School of Theatre, TV and Film at San Diego State University.  My latest couple of projects have been costume designing for Leonard Bernstein's Mass directed by Stephen Brotebeck. It was produced in its concert version.

I enjoy costume fabrication as much as designing. Some of my most recent wire work has been in Milta Ortiz's Mas where I soldered the frames for the headpieces and laid the feathers on the headpiece afterwards.

I also took a fabric modification class where the final project was to create a superhero from a Marvel movie using learnt fabric modification techniques. I chose the Marvel movie Doctor Strange and created a character called Scarab.

I am currently working on a puppet of La Diablesse, a Trinidadian folk character, for my puppetry class. It is a work in progress."

Faith has said that she will keep us posted and we look forward to seeing pictures of her future projects.  We at UTT APA are extremely proud of her work and effort.

Congratulations on a great first year at San Diego University, Faith!
